Toledo Cathedral in
Toledo, or the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo (is a
Roman Catholic cathedral in
Toledo, Spain and is ranked among the greatest Gothic structures in Europe. Inside, the cathedral contains important masterpieces including a spectacular baroque high altar and two paintings by El Greco.
It is the seat of the Metropolitan
Archdiocese of Toledo.
Work began on Toledo Cathedral in the 13th century. It is considered the archetype of Spanish Gothic cathedrals.
